Tikal-25 Manual
Description
This is a short introduction to the Asgalon Tikal-25 calculator emulator, which is loosely based on the functionality of the 1978 TI-25 slimline slide-rule calculator with a few convenience amendments thrown in. Modern calculators tend to have far more functions and display capabilites, but for the time half a century ago when many schools in Europe just made the change from teaching the use of slide rules to electronic calculators it was quite a neat tool. If you ever tried to do a calculation with a slide rule, you will know what I mean. The features presented here should still be more than enough for everyday household and secondary education needs. This manual follows the structure of the original owner's manual for educational purposes, so students of history of technology may better compare similarities and differences with the original device.
The reason for writing this application was that the template for this emulator which I bought in 1978 for math lessons at school just developed an unfixable defect after an outstanding 46 years of service, so I decided to honor it with an emulator that can be used on a smart-phone, which has the right dimensions to serve as a replacement.
